Space, calm, and everyday life in and around Hòfi Sint Joris
In recent years, the eastern part of Curaçao has undergone noticeable change. While Bandariba has long been known for its tranquility, natural landscapes, and open space, it is gradually evolving into a more complete residential area. This development is also visible in and around Hòfi Sint Joris. At the same time, the character of the area remains one of the main reasons people choose to live here: space, nature, and a daily rhythm that largely takes place outdoors.
Living with space around you
Life in and around Sint Joris follows a different pace compared to the busier parts of the island. Willemstad and key amenities remain within easy reach, yet once home, the calm of the surroundings takes over. Open landscapes, consistent trade winds, and proximity to natural areas create a living environment that is distinctly different from more urban neighborhoods.
Interest in living on the eastern side of Curaçao has increased in recent years. This is not only driven by new residential developments, but also by a broader shift in how people define quality of life. More residents are looking for environments where space, calm, and livability take center stage. The opportunity to spend more time outdoors is an increasingly important part of that preference.
Outdoor living as part of the daily rhythm
Around Sint Joris, much of daily life naturally takes place outdoors. The surrounding area offers ample opportunities for walking, cycling, and sports. The proximity of Sint Joris Bay and natural areas such as Koraal Tabak makes the region particularly attractive for residents who value an active lifestyle or simply a green and open environment.
Within Hòfi Sint Joris, this outdoor lifestyle is also increasingly taking shape. Residents make use of the outdoor workout areas, the football field, and the padel court, which contribute to an accessible and active living environment. These facilities reflect the character of the area: informal, outdoor-oriented, and focused on everyday movement and community interaction.
This combination of nature, space, and outdoor activity gives life in Sint Joris a different feel compared to many other parts of Curaçao. It is less defined by proximity to urban amenities and more by the ability to maintain a calmer, more balanced daily rhythm.
An area in development
At the same time, development in eastern Curaçao continues. New residential initiatives are emerging across the region, and there is growing attention for sports and recreational infrastructure. As a result, Bandariba is gradually evolving into a more established residential area, while retaining its open character.
For many residents, this balance is key. The Sint Joris area offers tranquility and nature without being isolated from the rest of the island. It is a place where people consciously choose space and outdoor living, while remaining connected to everything Curaçao has to offer.
This ongoing development means that living in and around Sint Joris feels different today than it did a few years ago. The area continues to evolve, while preserving the qualities that have long defined its appeal.
